Keywords:
LiDAR, Germany, Open Data, Point Clouds, GIS, 3D Mapping, Geospatial Information, Remote SensingAbstract
This article examines the growing availability of open LiDAR data in Germany and its importance for geospatial applications. It considers how openly accessible laser scanning data can support the creation of detailed three-dimensional representations of the terrain and built environment. The article also discusses the value of LiDAR point clouds for mapping, spatial analysis, surveying, and GIS-based workflows. By making high-resolution elevation and surface information more accessible, open LiDAR data can support a wider range of professional and research activities. The discussion highlights the practical opportunities created by open geospatial data and the role of LiDAR in modern digital mapping and three-dimensional geoinformation.
