This article examines the implementation and potential of XPlanung and digital development plans in the context of increasingly digital planning processes. XPlanung provides a structured approach for exchanging planning information and can help make development plans more accessible to digital systems. The article considers how standardized digital planning information can support communication between planning authorities, municipalities, professionals, and other stakeholders. Moving from conventional documents toward structured digital data can improve the consistency and usability of planning information and can reduce the need for repeated manual processing. Digital development plans can also create opportunities for combining planning information with geographic information systems and other spatial data sources. This can support analysis, visualization, and more efficient planning workflows. At the same time, successful implementation requires suitable technical structures, clear data models, reliable information, and cooperation between the organizations responsible for planning. The article discusses the potential benefits of these approaches while recognizing the practical requirements involved in transforming established planning procedures. The use of standardized geospatial information can strengthen interoperability and create a better basis for future digital planning services. Overall, the article presents XPlanung and digital development plans as important components of the continuing digital transformation of spatial planning and municipal development processes.
