This article discusses terrestrial laser scanning at the Humboldt Forum and the role of high-resolution three-dimensional measurement in documenting complex built environments. Terrestrial laser scanning can capture large numbers of spatial measurements and produce detailed point clouds that represent surfaces, structures, and architectural elements. Such information can be particularly useful for buildings with complex geometry or significant cultural and historical importance. The article considers how laser scanning can support surveying, documentation, modelling, and analysis at the Humboldt Forum. Three-dimensional point clouds provide a detailed digital record that can be used for measurements and further processing into models or other geospatial products. The method can also reduce the need for repeated conventional measurements and provide a consistent spatial basis for different project participants. However, successful scanning projects require careful planning, appropriate scanner positions, accurate registration, and suitable processing of the collected data. The article highlights the practical value of terrestrial laser scanning as part of modern surveying and digital building documentation. It also demonstrates how point-cloud technologies can connect field measurement with three-dimensional modelling and geospatial information management. The use of accurate digital spatial information can support both current project requirements and future documentation needs.
