This article presents the Knowledge and Innovation Hub for the Copernicus Academy and discusses its role in connecting knowledge, education, research, and Earth observation activities. Copernicus provides large volumes of satellite and geospatial information that can support environmental monitoring, land management, research, and many other applications. Making effective use of these resources requires not only technical infrastructure but also people with the knowledge and skills to work with Earth observation data. The article considers how a knowledge and innovation hub can help connect academic institutions, researchers, students, and other stakeholders interested in Copernicus services and applications. Such collaboration can support the exchange of experience, development of new ideas, and practical use of satellite-derived information. Education and research are particularly important because the geospatial sector is changing rapidly as new data sources and analytical methods become available. The article highlights the value of creating networks that encourage cooperation and innovation around Earth observation. By linking knowledge providers with users and technology developers, the Copernicus Academy can contribute to a stronger geospatial community. The discussion emphasizes that the long-term value of satellite information depends partly on the ability of people and organizations to understand, process, and apply it effectively. Knowledge networks can therefore play an important role in the continued development of European geospatial capabilities.
