This article explores mobile mapping as a solution for the large-scale recording of infrastructure. Infrastructure projects require accurate information about roads, utilities, buildings, and other assets, but conventional surveying methods can be time-consuming when large areas have to be documented. Mobile mapping systems combine positioning technologies, cameras, laser scanners, and other sensors to collect spatial information while moving through an area. The article considers how these systems can support the efficient acquisition of large amounts of infrastructure data. Mobile mapping can create detailed spatial datasets that can later be processed for mapping, inspection, documentation, and planning. The approach can reduce the amount of fieldwork required and provide a consistent basis for analyzing infrastructure conditions. At the same time, the quality of the resulting information depends on positioning accuracy, sensor performance, data processing, and appropriate quality control. The article highlights the practical value of mobile mapping for projects where extensive infrastructure needs to be recorded within a reasonable period. Combining mobile data collection with GIS and three-dimensional processing can also improve the connection between field observations and digital asset management. The discussion shows how mobile mapping can contribute to modern infrastructure documentation and create efficient workflows for collecting detailed geospatial information over large areas.
