The Digital Twin Speyer project presents a data-driven approach to understanding and responding to climate change at the local level. A digital twin can bring together different forms of geospatial and environmental information and make them easier to use for planning and decision-making. In the context of Speyer, such a model can support the analysis of climate-related conditions across the urban area and help decision-makers understand how environmental changes affect people, infrastructure, and public space. The approach highlights the value of combining spatial data, modelling, visualization, and continuously updated information in one digital environment. Such integration can make complex climate information more accessible to municipalities and other stakeholders. It can also support scenario-based planning by allowing users to examine possible developments and compare different measures before they are implemented. The article focuses on the practical role of data in climate adaptation and shows how a digital twin can become a useful bridge between technical information and urban planning. By improving the availability and interpretation of location-based data, the Speyer example demonstrates how digital technologies can contribute to more informed, transparent, and locally targeted climate action. Another important aspect is the need to make these data products understandable for planners and local stakeholders who may not work directly with complex geospatial systems. Clear visualization and practical interfaces can help translate technical results into concrete adaptation measures and improve communication between data specialists and decision-makers.
