Mobile on the go in canal management; [Mobil unterwegs im Kanalmanagement]

This article considers mobile working in canal management. Canal infrastructure requires information about assets, inspection findings, maintenance tasks and operational conditions along linear networks. Mobile GIS can give field staff access to mapped records and allow observations to be captured close to where work takes place. This can reduce delays between field activity and office updates, provided that data synchronisation and quality controls are reliable. The topic highlights how mobile geospatial workflows can support infrastructure teams working across dispersed sites and improve the link between field observations and asset management.
