This article presents the topic of OpenGeoResearch as a participatory platform for scientific questions with a spatial dimension. Many research problems involve place-based observations, local knowledge, environmental conditions, or patterns that are best understood geographically. A participatory platform can provide a way for researchers and contributors to formulate questions, share relevant information, and connect different perspectives around spatial research. Open and accessible workflows may improve collaboration, transparency, and reuse of geospatial information. They can also help make research needs more visible beyond a single institution or discipline. For such a platform to be effective, it needs clear contribution processes, reliable data handling, understandable documentation, and appropriate quality controls. Geographic information can support the organisation of research questions by location, topic, and scale, while enabling new connections between data and expertise. The article’s subject is relevant to open science, citizen participation, spatial data infrastructures, and collaborative research design. This abstract has been prepared from the title rather than copied from a published source.
