Abstract

The article “GIS.Business Series, Part 4: Cloudgis.de – Networked Thinking” focuses on the growing importance of networked approaches in the field of Geographic Information Systems. The development of web-based and cloud-oriented technologies is changing the way geographic information is accessed, managed and shared between users and organizations.

Cloud-based GIS can provide a common environment in which spatial information and related services are made available through network connections. This approach can support access to geographic data from different locations and facilitate cooperation between users who work with shared information and applications.

The article highlights the concept of networked thinking as an important aspect of modern geoinformation services. Rather than treating GIS as an isolated local system, network-based approaches allow geographic information, applications and services to be connected within a broader digital environment.

As part of the GIS.Business series, the article presents Cloudgis.de in the context of these developments and illustrates the growing relationship between GIS, cloud technologies and networked information services. It reflects the continuing transition toward more connected geospatial infrastructures and the increasing importance of flexible access to spatial information.
